Heart

Today we got to see our little baby for the first time.  The feeling is amazing and surreal.  We didn't get to hear the heartbeat, but we did see it.  I never thought a blinking screen could completely change my life the way this one did.  Our baby has a heart beat!
Another exciting part about today is that we were able to get a due date and figure out exactly how far a long I am.  Without being so TMI, I will just say my body is anything but consistent.  Based on all kinds of calculators and trackers, I am anywhere from 6 1/2 weeks to 8 weeks...so we were ready to know--officially. According to the ultrasound and doctor, I am 7 weeks and 4 days.  This means, I am due September 13th.
Here are the pictures of our little one.

Mums The Word

I have a friend that started a blog almost a year ago.  She never kept up with it and only posted once.  She has put into words exactly how I feel...so I am sharing what she posted.   Thanks Katie!
"I never thought one of the hardest things when you first find out your are starting a family would be having to live through the moment(s-yes plural!) when you want to shout from the mountain top - "We're going to have a baby!" but you can't; at least not yet."
We found out we were having a child on January 5th.  "Since then we've been living with this little secret that is anything but little. It is eating us up inside! After all, we're only 6 weeks along and we are cautiously proceeding ahead because of the high miscarriage rates during the first 8-9 weeks."
Our first doctors appointment is on January 28th - when we are 7 1/2 weeks. "This is the day when we hope our little baby will go from an incredible hope to a joyous blessing. Until then...mums the word."

Just To Be Sure

Last night was an incredible night in our lives.  We found out some very exciting news.  It's a miracle we even went to sleep.  So this morning, we decided we should take a few more tests...just to be sure.
The top one is the original from last night and then the second from today.
Later in the day, we tried one more brand.
We took 3 total...all positive!
I am a big fan of the digital kind...no mistaking their message!

I Promise, I Am Not Lying!

Today is the day. The day we found out we are expecting our first child.  A baby. Yes, a baby.
Wednesday, January 5th. The Day Our Lives Changed Forever!
We were sitting on the couch, watching Time Traveler's Wife.  This movie is a tearjerker.  But who am I kidding...I cry in almost every movie!  Josh knows that I cry at stuff, but he also knew it could be hormones.  We had been trying to conceive a child for the last few months and he was pretty up-to-date with my body, cycle, etc.  He said, hey, maybe you should go take a test.  I thought, I guess. Ok, fine.
We headed back to the bedroom to get ready for bed and for me to take a test.
I was standing in the bathroom as he was turning down the bed and I looked down and immediately started crying again.  He looked at me from across the room and I said: "It says yes. I promise, I am not lying. It says yes". I don't know if the convincing was more for him or for me.
Tears for both of us. Overwhelming excitement and then, almost immediately, prayer.
So, here we are. Pregnant. Really Pregnant. A True Miracle.
{Shortly after we read the test}
