Fresh Beat Band Concert

Last Friday night, we took Audrey (3) , Harper (2) , and Mary Whitley (22M) to the Fresh Beat Band concert.  Harper and Audrey got "Rockstar" jackets for Christmas, but Harper didn't know about the concert until the night before.  Besides hanging back stage at the Gatlin Brothers Concert, this was her first REAL concert. She had the best time!  Below are some pictures and a movie recapping the whole night.

Video Update on Harper

I randomly decided to ask Harper a few questions about her life.
Here are her answers.

This girl makes me laugh.

The boys officially have names!

We have names...first names at least.  Josh and I are still undecided on middle names, but the boys officially have first names. YAY!
Gatlin=My maiden name
Houston=Josh's Great Uncle's first name
Keeping it all in the family!
For now, I feel like Baby A is Houston and Baby B is Gatlin, but I guess we will know when we see them.

Update on Us, 24 Weeks

This week, I am officially 24 weeks. That means, over halfway there! The holidays really made this last month or so fly by!  I can't believe these little guys will be here before we know it.

I was looking back over my pregnancy with Harper and I wanted to compare (here I go, comparing my kids already) the information from then and now.  Harper is in pink and the boys answers are in blue.

Baby's size?
Just over a foot long and about 1 lb. 4 oz.
Baby A measured 1 lb 6 oz. and Baby B measure 1 lb. 7 oz (on 12/30).

Weight Gain?
No Clue-go to the Doctor later this week
17 lbs. I don't normally ask or look at the scale, but this time I was curious. I asked my doctor and she said she was very happy with my weight. *Sigh of Relief*

Maternity clothes?
Mostly maternity (thank you friends who have donated to the wardrobe), a few of my own empire waist tops and dresses.
Uh, Yes. Have been for a while now.

Sleep?
So so. I am starting to get uncomfortable...but once I re-position, I am back to sleep!
Depends on the night. I take unisom/b6 for morning sickness, so the unisom helps. I can fall asleep pretty fast these days.  I have a body pillow that I just busted back out last night.  I sleep pretty well...unless Harper wakes up.  Lately, she has been having night terrors.  That keeps me up for 1-2 hours in the middle of night. Just depends.

Foods I am loving?
I am back to eating most everything. I even cooked the other day! Chocolate is a favorite...but I have loved it for 29 years!
Umm...I seem to be able to eat more of a variety of foods than I remember eating with Harper.  A staple is Mexican!  Grapefruit often sounds good.  So does chocolate (see previous comment).

Foods I am hating?
Asian food
I am doing ok with Asian food...but it makes me feel sick a few hours later or the next day. Probably all the soy sauce! :)  I am still not doing well with "at home steaks".  I have been that way since I was pregnant with Harper.  Everyday is different.

Best moment this month?
Finally revealing the gender to my friends at my baby shower and settling on a name.  We are naming our little girl Harper Elizabeth.
Well, since its January 3rd...it's been a short month. I would say in the last 30 days, we have done a lot. We have celebrated mine/Josh's birthdays, Christmas, and spent time with family.  We also found out (12/2) that we are expecting two boys.  It's been a big couple of weeks.  Lots of great moments!

Symptoms?
Sore spot on my back...around my shoulder blade.  I am constantly walking around my office trying to stretch it out.  Also, I cannot make it through a church service without crying.  It is usually the worship music and baptisms.  I am a basket case!
Just this week that same spot on my back is bothering me. Ugh! It's no fun. I am also out of breath much faster than I was with Harper.  I feel like I am already running out of room with these boys.  I had some hip issues when Harper was an infant, and just this week, it started bothering me again. Man, I'm old! :)

Gender?
A GIRL!
Two boys.

What I'm looking forward to?
Having the nursery painted tomorrow!  We have one piece of furniture that we can move in once it is painted and the rest has been ordered.  I am excited to start getting the room all set up!
Wow, first of all, I can't believe I am a little ahead of my former pregnant self! haha. I am looking forward to figuring out Crib #2 (not sure which one to get), putting the final touches on the nursery, taking a trip to Charleston at the end of the month to celebrate Sloan's 1st birthday, and getting past the few weeks in between where Josh is traveling a lot.

Milestones: 24 Weeks and Counting!

New Year, New Rooms

Happy New Year!
As we start preparing for our new additions, we have decided to transition Harper to her big girl room, eh, big girl stuff. We originally planned on moving her into the bigger guest bedroom at the end of the hall, but after finding out it was twins, we realized she is staying put.  Even though it is our smallest bedroom, it makes the most sense (two cribs wont work in there, closer to the bathroom, and farther from the babies, and she is used that room as hers).
Here are pictures of her room before she was born (Clean and Tidy):
We have made a few changes over the last 2 years, but you get the idea.
So just before the new year, we started putting together her new room.  It's kind of tricky when you have to move the crib out and a big girl bed in.  We weren't sure how she would handle it...but it was like ripping a band-aid.
Harper was really into helping. She loved helping me pour water in the dented carpet and "fluffing" it back up. She also loved measuring everything in her room. Whatever kept her occupied! :)
Once we got the crib out, the first thing to do was build the bed.
I am so glad I have a handy husband! B/c I can't do much, I was glad he was able to do most on his own.
We decided on a day bed b/c it fits well in that room (just where the crib was) and I thought it would be a nice transition from the crib. Since it has 3 sides, it keeps Harper, and her stuff inside the bed.  We have a toddler rail on the side. She can still get in and out, but to me, this feels like a giant crib.
SHE LOVES IT!
We also kept her name on the wall.  Originally, the color scheme was bright pink, yellow, and navy...but we have kept a few pale pink items and this was one. I love that decal and just don't think I can ever take it off the walls!
Daddy likes Harper's new bed too.
Oh and side note, it has a trundle for future slumber parties or restless nights.
We figured once the boys arrived, she might regress some...and having that extra sleeping spot might come in handy.
She slept great in her bed the first night!
YAY HARPER!
We moved her new mirror in the corner and moved out the glider. She loves dressing up and checking herself out!
We took her curtains down and decided to go with a shade and valance. The fabric on her valance inspired the color scheme of the room...that and the fact that I was given great yellow furniture for her room.
Handy Daddy!
Here are a few night time shots of the big girl room (we painted the white spots by the valance, btw).
Harper seems to really love her new room (she is looking at her baby on the floor).
Now for the full room tour in the daylight:
The first thing you see is her bed. We aren't making her bed right now b/c she doesn't like covers.  We are keeping the bedding bunched down at the bottom...it also acts like a blocker to the exit.
Her basket of boys, frank the horse, and mirror fill the space where her glider was.
From the opposite side of the wall, you can see her room as you enter it. I just love the "LOVE" painting.
Her room seems like it has a lot going on from the pictures, but it seems more subtle in person.
We gave her a little reading nook, topped off with a custom Tennessee pillow. I love the masculine style of the chair mixed in with all her girly stuff.  I also love her Kendall Boggs original painting above the mirror.

The final project for this room was the light fixture. I wanted to add something fun to her lighting and this was perfect...and free! :) She told me it's her favorite part of her new room. I love that she loves it.  She seems very proud to show off her new room.  We play in there a little more and spend more time letting her make decisions in her room.  I know that eventually, she will want to get away from her brothers, so I hope she finds this to be the best retreat!  It really was a labor of love for me.

Next Up: The Nursery.
We are no where near being finished, but here is a sneak peak of what's to come for the boys.
We have decided on a nautical theme with  Navy and Seafoam Blue/Green accents.
These frames will eventually have the boys stats listed (Harper's is on her dresser).

A few nautical accents to get Josh excited about "nursery decor". ha!
Once we have more complete, I will post pictures!

Over our holiday break, we took a small break from room decorating to figure out the stroller situation. We found an incredible deal at Bargain Hunt on a Joovy Snap N Go stroller. We liked this one the most b/c the boys will be side by side instead of both facing us.  We also found a generic glider attachment for Harper.
I was pleasantly surprised when it didn't hit my feet on it once pushing it around the basement.  She loved riding on it and kept asking Daddy to push her. Since Harper likes to push the grocery cart and doesn't love her stroller anymore, we knew this would be perfect.

"It's ok cheerleader" - Harper
She is a little mommy already.
This whole thing is slightly overwhelming! :)
