Mom: this summer you're going to learn to swim like Harper

Gat: I don't want to go under water

Harper: they are scaredy cats 

Gatlin: I am not scared of cats!!!

Houston: but they do this, (claws up) hsssss

Harper Says

Mom, you make the best breakfast ever! {As she eats a waffle folded in half with syrup} I'm a master chef ;)

  

Harper Says

This morning as we were getting ready for school/work, Harper was watching Doc McStuffins.  

H: Mom, when I grow up, I want to be a doctor...and a mom.  Like you.  You go to work and are a mom.

Me:  That's great Harper.  You can do both. 

H: And if I need help, you can go pick her up for me. 

Me: I would be happy to help, but that means you can't move far away.  

H: I will live here until I am older and then I will live down the street

Me: Works for me!

(a few minutes later heading to school) 

Harper Says

The other night Harper and I were fine dining at Wendy's and she noticed the olympic rings on her milk (they are under the American Flag).

H: Mom, Look at my milk!  (and takes a big sip)
It tastes like the Olympics. like gymnastics.

Harper Says

A couple of weeks ago, I told Josh I wanted to get a bike b/c he and Harper always went to ride them and I wanted to join in the fun.  So we loaded up the kids and after looking 3 places, we found the perfect one.

The next day, Harper and I rode bikes a nap time. A woman was walking the neighborhood and said "Wow, you ride your bike really well" (to Harper)
Harper: Thanks, it's my moms first day!
(beaming with pride -- for her mom!)

She makes me laugh.
Below is a few weeks later when we decided the boys needed to join us for a ride!

Harper Says: Mother's Day

How old is your mom? 9

I love my mom bc she: let's me stay up longer.

My favorite thing my mom does for me is: makes me food 

I love when she: let's me eat all the fruit snacks, brushes my hair, and does a group hug. 

My moms favorite treat is: m&m's

I want to be with my mom on vacation alone together!!

Harper, age 4

Harper Says

At lunch today with Harper
Harper: the sun came out mom! That's good. We have plants at school. And caterpillars.
Me: you do?
Harper: yes! And they go to a cocoon and when they wake up they have to go outside bc thy will be butterflies!
Me: Harper, you are so smart!
Harper: yah, smart is my middle name.
Me: (laughing) oh it is?
Harper: yes, Harper Meadows Elisabeth Smart!

Harper Says

After coming in from the snow, Harper and I "made" hot chocolate in the Keurig.

H: Mom, this is the BEST hot cocoa ever. 

Me: you did a great job making it 

H: yah, it's SUPER good

Harper says

Houston was upset over something and Gatlin was trying to cheer him up by handing him cars. 

Harper: That is so sweet bud bud (to Gatlin).  That was good sharing with your brother. I'm so proud of you. 

Then leaned over and gave him a kiss! 

Harper Says

Harper:  Mom, watch, I can make this disappear.

Abra-Cadabra

(Takes a sip of her drink)

Me: Laughing.

Harper: See! 

This kid!!!!

Harper Says

While fixing my hair in the mirror (as my kids eat dinner)

Harper: mom, what are you doing?

Me: fixing my hair

Harper: why are you fixing your hair? 

Me:Well, I am just messing with it. 

Harper: that is not very fashionable 

Then busts out laughing.

(This kid...what am I going to do with her?) 

Harper Says

(While Putting Harper to Bed)

H: Mom, Hug? 

(holding me tight)

Me: Ok, Harper, it's time to go to bed. I will come check on you in a few minutes.

H: No mom, you can stay with me forever. Because I love you.

(heart melting)

Harper Says

As we're getting ready for school, she sits down by Gatlin as Houston comes crawling over. 

H: can I sit here? Mom, can he be my friend? Can they both be my friend?

Me: yes! Remember, we are sweet to our friends. I hope you stay friends for rest of your lives, even when you are big like mommy and daddy. 

H: yah! They will use words and can talk. They won't have baby words! That would be so fun!

Gah, I love her.

Harper Says

Conversation Josh (daddy) had with Harper before bed.

D: Harper what is your favorite thing?

H: Singing to people.

D: oh cool that is what pawpaw does. Do you know what daddy's favorite thing is?

H: watching movies and commercials (kind of freaky accurate on her part) 

D: nope Harper it is you....

H: aww thanks dad...I have to go potty...I have to poop! 

Harper says

While listening to Disney radio on Pandora, the Lion King came on. Harper looked at the image and sad:

"He is so handsome. I love his cute little hair."

Harper Says

The other night leaving work, I missed my turn and had to do a quick lane change.  I waved to the car behind me and said "sorry".

H: Mom, why are you saying sorry?
Me: b/c I just got in front of the car behind me b/c i missed my turn.
H: Mom, you should pay attention when you drive.

WHEN DID SHE BECOME A BACK SEAT DRIVER?

Harper Says

Harper never wants to stay seated during dinner.

Me: Harper, when I was your age, I would get in trouble if I kept leaving the table and didn't finish my dinner.
H: When you were my age?
Me: yes, bossy would get onto me for not staying seated.  And Nana would do the same for Daddy.
H: Well, when i was your age, i told you to sit down and finish your dinner and you would get in trouble.

She Loves "when I was your" age statements...and they are hilarious!

Harper Says

Driving to school, a car pulls up next to us blaring music. 

H: what's that?

Me: it's the car next to you. 

H: oh (looks at the car), it's bumpin! 

Harper Says

😛H: are we going to dance or school? 

Me: we are going to school. You only have dance on Saturdays. 

H: I love dance.

Me: Me too. When I was your age, I took dance too.

H: When I was your age, I watched you on the TV. B/c I was your mommy.

(we can watch her on the TV Screen in the lobby during dance)

Harper Says

Me: Harper, what do you want for your birthday?
H: Candles
Me: Candles?
H: yah, 1, 2, 3, candles on my cake. no, my cupcake.

Well, this should be an easy birthday! :)
