Kitchen Renovation during Covid-19

For about a year and a half, we have been heavily considering renovating our kitchen.  Josh and I finally found a great contractor (the contractors group) to do the job we wanted within our budget.  My main goal was to take the wall down between the family room and the kitchen.  Since we were doing that, Josh suggested we just overhaul the whole thing.  Fine by me! :) Though our kitchen had been painted and somewhat updated through the years, the cabinets are original and the layout has not changed.  We kept the foot print pretty similar, but added some enhancements.

We got all set to start on 3/16, the first day of spring break.  I was thinking it would be perfect to be gone during demo - we would be out of the way and it would be safer for the kids. Well, little did I know, our plans would be cancelled due to Covid-19.  Disney World shut it's gates two days before we were to surprise the boys for their 6th birthday.
We decided to proceed with the demo anyway, only to receive a "safer at home" order on 3/19...without a kitchen.  Thankfully, the people at the contractors group still showed up for work and knocked it out in 4 weeks!  We have been so happy and it has certainly made this last month of quarantine much more enjoyable.
Here are some before and after photos.

Kitchen Renovation During a Global Pandemic

We had been planning a full kitchen renovation for about 6 months.  We were on the scheduled to start demo while we were in Disney for Spring Break.  Two days before our trip, we found out Disney was shutting down for 4 weeks b/c of how quickly Covid is spreading.  Two days after our kitchen was completely demolished, a "safter in place" order was set by the state/country.  We didn't have a kitchen and didn't know what was going on.  Our crew still wanted to work and we felt fortunate to have them.  For safety reasons, we had the same few people in our home - to help keep the spread of germs to minimum.  The crew managed to work super fast and hard on our home and our overall renovation took 4 weeks.  We worked with amazing people - all while trying to do school in the basement and stay out of the way.  Here are some before and after pictures.
