Weekend Outside

After a long 3 days at school, Harper (and I) were relieved to have a little downtime over the weekend.  Well, not downtime...but fun time! :)  Josh invited a handful of friends from work to cookout and swim on Saturday.  Harper was so excited to see Katie and Susie (old nanny).  It had been a month and as soon as she saw Katie, she hugged/held her for like 2 minutes.  It was the sweetest thing ever!
Here are the girls enjoying their dinner.
Swim Time!

Bounce house time!
Susie decided to check on baby Thatcher while momma was stealing a moment with baby Riley.
More cuddles with Katie and an overall fun Saturday.

Sunday, we got up from nap and headed out to Miles' first birthday party.
First things first, the cupcakes!
Harper then ventured over to the balloon man. He made her a butterfly to match her outfit.

Next, we sang Happy Birthday to Miles and watched him not eat his cake. :) You would think the son of a Bakery owner would dive right in!

After cake, I got my face painted to see if Harper would be interested.  She was!  She said she wanted "pretty make-up".
She was so good sitting in my lap.
Now there's a look! she LOVED it!

Only fitting that dad got some make up too! She wanted to see his "pretty make-up".

The picture below captures two firsts: a ring pop and face painting
Of course, she found buzz and a toy story book.

Overall, we had a blast at Miles' party!  Cupcakes, suckers, balloons, buzz, and pretty make-up.

When we got home, Harper put on her back pack and was ready to go to school! I was so happy to see her warming up to the idea of school again. She does love that backpack (all the kids have the same one).

Hope you had a fun weekend like we did!

Harper's First Day of School {Ever}

August 21, 2013 was Harper's first day of school {ever}.
Harper is in the Early Preschool Classroom with Ms. Candi and Ms. Alex.
Her school is about 5 minutes from my work and she is attending M-F.  Since she has been with a stay at home mom/nanny for the last year and a half, I was nervous/anxious about the classroom setting.
I knew she would love the class, activities, playground, etc.  I just didn't want her to overwhelmed by the change.  I was most worried about the food and Josh was most worried about her nap.  She is a very good napper at home...but on a cot in a room full of people, who knows?!?!

CHEESE!

So excited for her first day!

She let go of me immediately and surveyed the room.
The school provides backpacks for all the kids. Her bag was ready for her!
Starting to play
Helping her friends and Ms. Candi clean up
Eating her snack
Throwing away her trash (I was so impressed at how well she followed the rules).
Washing her hands...probably her favorite part of the classroom.
One thing I love about her school is the two-way mirror at the door. Once I left the room, she couldn't see me, but I could watch her for a few minutes...to make sure she was ok.  This mommy was a bit emotional. Seriously, this door was one of the pros we found when touring daycares.
Just before lunch, I stopped by to check on Harper.  I didn't go inside, I just took a little peek through the door.  She was playing dress up and then they called her name to paint.
She put her dress-up vest up (seriously, she follows rules!) and went to get her smock.
Here she is doing a little painting with Ms. Candi.
When I went to pick Harper up, she was so Happy!  She said hi to me immediately, but stayed seated so she could finish her snack.  Again, I was so impressed at how well she listened and really grasped the rules on the first day.  She is the only  new kid in the class, but seemed to fit in well.
Highlights for us: she slept the whole two hours, she was friendly/chatty, and loved music class.  Overall, she had a great first day!
